The Easy Summer Edit
Summer outfits just calls for fewer decisions. And sometimes that doesn’t make getting dressed easier. When I’m looking in my closet or helping a client with theirs, these are the pieces I keep thinking about for summer.
Lightweight drawstring pants
Specifically, I’m reaching for lightweight denim pull on pants. I have this pair from Frank & Eileen (use code “STRIPES” at checkout for 15% off😉) and this pair from Mersea. They’re both perfect for warm summer days when you’re not really feeling a pair of shorts and your linen pants are in the wash. Wear them with a chic mesh ballet flat, jelly mules, simple sandal, or cool sneaker and you’re done!
Flip Flops
Whenever I suggest flip flops to my clients, they’re like, “seriously? Flip flops are cool?” If you’re wearing a flip flop with floor grazing denim or a little mini barely there dress, trust me you’ll look cool. My secret weapon lately? Archie’s. Yup, flip flops WITH arch support. They come in a ton of colors and are absolutely worth picking up a few!
Pops Of Blue
I might be biased because of the summer of Knicks blue (and orange) but colors like cobalt blue, lapis, and royal blue are a great way to add a pop of color into your outfits. The color adds a statement, and there’s something about these shades of blue that feel so new and exciting when it comes to outfits. But it’s also not super outrageously bold ya know? Love this top from Balzac! Oh and I’m thinking I need this shirt jacket in blue!!
A linen or cotton (or linen cotton!!) button down
One of the most versatile pieces you could own. Wear it tucked into wide-leg denim trousers, knotted at the waist with a tank underneath, or open over your bathing suit. A button down really does everything for an outfit.
Flowy femme tops
When I was at J.Crew, femme tops was the buzziest buzz word amongst the shirts merchant (aka me). But it’s kind of the only way I think properly describes these tops tbh!!! A flowy top does the work of making your outfit feel well thought out. Look for ones that are off the body: this one, this one, this one, and this one.
Shorts that aren’t denim
Linen and poplin are my go to recommendations for the days where thick denim shorts simply are not an option. Wear them with a tank or your button down, put on your favorite sandals and grab a summer tote. The swap from denim to lighter weight fabrics is the thing that makes your summer wardrobe feel easy!
T-shirt dresses
Truly a one and done piece in your closet. No decision making necessary, you put it on and go. The t-shirt material keeps it from being precious and delicate, so you can wear it to brunch or the grocery store or even dinner with your friends. This one from Sezane is a go to for a few years now.

The links for the femme tops are missing for me and I’m on the edge of my seat!
That shirt jacket reminds me of French workers jackets. I have something similar from JCrew that I got a couple of years ago.
And I think you may have influenced me into getting a France t-shirt for the World Cup. I’m a dual citizen and have been following the team for a long time. Allez les Bleus!
